Opening celebrations of the Jäkälälampi Nature Trail

Celebrate Finnish Nature Day at the opening of the new Jäkälälampi Nature Trail in the Valkealampi area of Lehtimäki, Alajärvi, on Saturday 29 August 2026.

The event starts at 11:00 at the Valkealampi parking area, Valkealammentie 200, 63510 Alajärvi. Participants will walk the approximately three-kilometre Jäkälälampi Nature Trail together, guided by Vilma Knibbs, Executive Director of Impact Crater Lake Lappajärvi UNESCO Global Geopark.

European Geopark Weeks 23.5.-7.6.2026

European Global Geoparks Weeks are celebrated in Geoparks across Europe in May–June 2026. In Impact Crater Lake Lappajärvi UNESCO Global Geopark, a diverse programme will take place in Alajärvi, Evijärvi, Lappajärvi and Vimpeli from 23 May to 7 June. During the weeks, there will be workshops, nature and birdwatching excursions, lectures, a cosmic pub quiz… and much more!

European Global Geopark Week 2026 is coming again!

The European Global Geoparks Weeks will be celebrated in Geoparks across Europe in May–June 2026. In the Kraatterijärvi Geopark area, a diverse programme will take place in Alajärvi, Evijärvi, Lappajärvi and Vimpeli! During the weeks, there will be workshops, nature and birdwatching excursions, lectures, a cosmic pub quiz and much more! The full programme will be published soon in April!
