Lappajärvi is Europe’s biggest crater lake, which was created 78 million years ago by meteor crash. The effects are still visible and experienced in the area. Impact Crater Lake Lappajärvi UNESCO Global Geopark is a regional area, situated around the Europe's biggest impact crater lake Lappajärvi and the 4 municipalities around the lake (Alajärvi, Evijärvi, Lappajärvi and Vimpeli).
